Why Color Street Dry Polish Strips are an Absolute Must

Color Street nail sets

I’ve been using Color Street for just over 2 years now.

I remember the first time I ever heard of it. There was a vendor fair happening in our work building during lunch, and Color Street was one of the tables set up. Curiosity got the better of me, and I timidly walked up. The sweet girl (woman? – for some reason, that just sounds so formal!) plastered a sample Twosie on my fingers, and I was instantly hooked. Were those really MY nails looking that pretty?

I walked away from that table with their Buy 3, Get 1 Free deal in glitters and patterned strips. I have been buying consistently ever since, and after more than two years, I just became a stylist myself.

LIFE BEFORE COLOR STREET

You see, before Color Street, my nails always looked a hot mess. They rarely had polish on them except for special occasions. Going to the salon every couple of weeks was expensive, and those mani’s never made it out without a smudge or two. Now, why would I keep on paying $50 with tip for a mani that would have smudges on it before I even made it to my car? I’d be out of my mind, right?

Color Street- Night Terror

Doing my nails myself was an even bigger joke. I just never got the hang of painting them myself. No matter how many times I tried, the polish would be streaky, uneven, and end up on my hands and around my nails too.

So. Not. Cute.

Then there was the whole being held hostage for an hour while I waited for it to dry completely…which I could never, ever do.

Ever since Color Street, my nails are always done and looking Ah-Mazing!

WHAT IS COLOR STREET?

So what is Color Street, you ask?

Color Street are these incredible dry nail polish strips. Each strip is complete with a base coat, a color coat, and a top coat. Each set also includes a nail prep wipe and a nail file.

Because they are made of 100% nail polish, they can be taken off with nail polish remover. If taken off this way, they won’t damage the nail like gels, powders, or acrylics do. No promises can be made if you try to peel and chip them off, though.

Color Street come in solid colors, glitters, designs, holiday themes, and more. You can use one set on both hands, or mix and match sets to create your own fun and unique look. Each set is super affordable at $11-14 each.

Holding sets of Color Street dry nail polish

Color Street dry nail polish strips are also built to last. I am tough on my nails, ya’ll. I use my fingers as tools to scrape food off of pans and am constantly typing and tapping. Every application lasts me roughly 2 weeks, and it’s not because of chipping. The natural nail grow-out is what causes the need to apply a new set.

More times than not, I get bored with the color I am wearing before I actually need to apply a new set.  This says nothing about the quality or color selections, though, and everything about my short attention span!

HOW TO APPLY

Applying Color Street nails is extremely easy. Now, it did take me a time or two to really get the hang of it. They still lasted the two weeks but did have some user-error imperfections. Since then, though, it’s been smooth sailing. I can typically apply a full set in just about 10 minutes and am then free to go about my day.

Seriously, the whole not having to wait for polish to dry has been life-changing!

Here are the steps on how to apply your Color Street sets:

  1. Clean and prep nails before application. File nails and push back cuticles as needed. Again, Color Street makes this step easy by including alcohol wipes and a mini file with every Color Street set.
  2. After you’ve prepped your nails, you’ll want to size your nail strips to fit your nails. Finding the best-fitting size for each nail will help with the overall look and how long it lasts.
  3. Once you know which strip is going on your nail, you will remove the plastic covering the strip.
  4. Start with your pinky and move your way across your hand, finishing with the thumb.
  5. The strips are sticky and do stretch slightly. Stick the nail polish strip onto your nail as close to your cuticle as possible. You do want to avoid having the strip lay on top of your cuticle.
  6. Smooth the polish onto your nail, working your way up and out.
  7. Fold the strip over the edge of your nail. Use your thumb or file to remove the excess strip.

If your nails are not super long, or you don’t tear the excess strip, you can typically use the other half of your strip on another nail. This will leave your other set of 8 to use on your toes for a matching pedi!

WOULD I RECOMMEND COLOR STREET?

I think that this is a given. I did become a stylist, after all. It did take some convincing from my own stylist, but I finally decided to go for it (and to her I apologize for being such a pain!). After all, Color Street is a product I can 100% stand behind and believe in. I can’t say the same thing about everything that I use.

Color Street- Tokyo Lights

Not only are Color Street dry polish stips simply fantastic, but they are also a great company. Through the Color Street Foundation, they give back to many worthy causes. To name a few, they are Alex’s Lemonade Stand, The Autism Society of America, and the Breast Cancer Research Center.

I love how a mani can be done in 10 minutes, and off you go. The end result is professional looking nails where there are no limits. Try going to a salon and asking for a manicure with a design for under $15. Not going to happen.

Then there are all of the color options. Seriously, it can be difficult to choose just a few if you’re sticking to the Buy 3, Get 1 Free deal! They are always coming out with new shades, too. It gives the perfect excuse to keep coming back for more!

Plus, I cannot say enough that they are long-lasting. The picture below shows the life of a Color Street manicure over two weeks. The result speaks for itself, right? Pedi’s easily last a month or longer due to less wear and tear on the toes.

One tip that I do have is to use the strips shortly after opening your packet up. This is because the strips being to dry as soon as air hits them. If you leave them exposed for too long without applying them, you’ll be left with a brittle strip that will be difficult to apply.

To try Color Street for yourself, you can order through this Color Street link. Or, you know, the holidays are quickly approaching. Color Street also makes great stocking stuffers. *wink wink*
