June 12, 2020 at 11:03 amI love your piece on running in the heat! I’m not a fan but sometimes you gotta make-do. I forget to hydrate lots before, and I like your tips on the that! Looking forward to connecting as I am also a baker and finding a moderation in every day!
Ashley Kosky
June 12, 2020 at 9:24 pmI definitely prefer fall and spring running myself. I’ll admit I take more walking breaks when it is hot outside. lol. And yes, it is so easy to forget to hydrate, then the massive headache sets in. Thanks so much for reading!

June 12, 2020 at 8:11 pmThank you for this article. I’ve been thinking about starting a running routine but have always hated it when I’ve tried it. I think I try to start with too lofty a starting point.
Ashley Kosky
June 12, 2020 at 9:27 pmWhen I first started, I hated running. Heck, up until about two years ago, I did everything I could to avoid it at all costs! haha. Starting out more modestly helps a lot to ease into it. Thanks for reading!

June 12, 2020 at 11:05 pmi enjoyed your seven tips! I am not a runner at all but love to walk. A few times I have attempted “running” but never stayed with it! While reading your article, I looked at the picture from the race and thought “Dang,, that looks like the St. Jude race!” Then I noticed the guy in the very back with the St. Jude fundraising shirt on. My son died of leukemia 4 1/2 years ago. My reason to get off the couch was to train for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in New Orleans in 2016. Since then I have completed 4 St Jude Half Marathons. Having a purpose helps! My purpose is fundraising so no more mommas have to bury their children…

June 13, 2020 at 3:31 pmI am so sorry to hear about your son. It definitely does help to have a purpose to run for. It sounds like you’ve found a positive way to help. That’s amazing that you’ve completed 4 St. Jude Half Marathons. Way to go! Thank you for reading.
Becky
July 19, 2020 at 4:44 pmI ran my first (and last) half marathon for St. Jude’s 2 years ago. What a great organization. I am so very sorry to hear about your son. It sounds like you’ve channeled your pain into a very worthy cause.

July 9, 2020 at 12:50 pmGreat post… I would definitely suggest running with a friend at night and varying your route. Aside from the alarm, not sure I would feel good about carrying weapons on a run though (not allowed in Canada!), IMH. July 14, 2021 at 8:36 pmI love that you use premade crust here. I love to bake, but making pie dough is so hit and miss for me, so anytime I can get help from Pillsbury I take it haha. I also love that you added a hint of almond extract to bump up the cherry flavour in your filling. I can almost smell this pie through the screen!
Ashley Kosky
July 16, 2021 at 7:01 pmI’m with you on that…making homemade crust is tempermental and a pain! haha. Using a premade crust is the ONE shortcut I take when baking. And yes, the little bit of almond extract really does just tie everything together. Thanks so much for visiting!

July 25, 2021 at 5:44 pmMaybe put “brown sugar” in the beginning with the butter too. It wasn’t until the end i was like when do i add it? It wasn’t specified to add the brown sugar, just the sugar. Mine is in the oven now, smells great, hoping adding it at the end doesn’t effect it much.
Ashley Kosky
July 25, 2021 at 6:50 pmThank you for that! I went back in and specified more clearly to add the brown and regular sugar. I hope that you enjoy your banana bread, and I apologize for the confusion and unclear instructions.
